Terms of Use
Effective 6 October 2026
Last updated: 6 October 2026
Mokii is in alpha. These terms may be refined before Mokii opens to the public. Questions: support@mokii.au.
Who you’re agreeing with
Mokii is operated by Telaron Labs (ABN 64 235 749 494), a registered business name held by its operator as a sole trader. By creating an account or using the app, you’re agreeing to these terms with Telaron Labs.
Who can use Mokii
You must be at least 13 to use Mokii.
- If you are under 16, you may use Mokii only as a Member of a household that is run by someone aged 16 or older, and you join by invitation from that household. You cannot create a household of your own.
- If you are under 18, you may use Mokii only with the knowledge of your parent or guardian. If you are a parent or guardian of a young person who uses Mokii, you are responsible for knowing that they do.
When you sign up, you tell us whether you are aged 13–15 or 16 or over. We rely on that. Giving us an incorrect age breaks these terms, and we may suspend or close an account where we have reason to believe it does not match the person using it. Our privacy policy explains how we handle information about young people.
Using Mokii
Mokii is a safety-net service that watches for missed check-ins and notifies the people you nominate. By using Mokii you agree to use it as intended and to keep your account details accurate — Mokii can only reach the right people if your circle and contact details are up to date.
What Mokii is not
Mokii is a best-effort safety aid, not a guarantee and not an emergency service. It is not monitored by emergency services, it does not dispatch help, and it depends on your device, your network, and the people in your circle. It is not a veterinary service or a substitute for arranging proper care for your pet. If there’s an emergency, call 000.
To be concrete about the ways it can fail to reach someone: a phone can be off, out of battery, or out of signal; an operating system can stop an app working in the background; a carrier can delay or drop a message; a person can be asleep, busy, or decline to be contacted. Mokii tries the next rung when one does not answer, and tells you afterwards what happened — but it cannot promise that anybody will come, and it cannot guarantee delivery of any notification, SMS, or call.
Adding someone as a contact
When you add a contact you are giving us somebody else’s phone number or email address, and asking us to use it. By doing that you confirm that:
- you actually know them, and they would reasonably expect to hear from you about your pet;
- the details you have given us are theirs and are correct;
- you accept that we will tell them, at the moment you add them, that they are on your ladder and how to stop it.
Tell them first, yourself, as well. They may not have a Mokii account, and adding someone without their knowledge is a misuse of the service, even though Mokii will also notify them directly.
They can refuse, and we will honour it permanently. If they do, we remove them from every ladder in every household, we tell you that they declined, and you cannot add them back. That is not a setting you control — it is theirs.
Mokii writes the messages. You cannot compose, schedule or trigger a message to a contact yourself, and Mokii must not be used to harass, surveil, or reach somebody who does not want to hear from you.
Alerts, messages and calls
Depending on how a household is set up, an alert may arrive as a push notification, an SMS, or an automated voice call. Message and call charges on the receiving end are between that person and their carrier.
Alerts are sent only when the conditions you configured are actually met. We do not send marketing down the alert path.
Cost and billing
Mokii is free while it is in alpha, with no end date: the alpha runs while we test with early users. We plan to charge for it afterwards, and we will tell you at least 30 days before any paid plan starts. Nothing is ever charged automatically. Paid plans are bought through Google Play or the App Store, you see the price there before you agree, and nobody is charged without choosing a plan. Any price we mention before then is a plan, not an offer. We never see or hold your card details, and nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
A missed payment never cuts alerts off without warning. If a payment fails, Mokii keeps watching as normal while Google Play or the App Store retries it, and for at least 7 more days after that. We tell the household’s owners and co-owners before monitoring pauses, and an alert that is already under way always finishes. If the plan still isn’t renewed, monitoring pauses until it is. Nothing is deleted, and renewing turns it back on.
Fair use
There are limits on how many contacts a household may hold and how quickly they may be added. They exist to stop the alert path being used as a way to message people who did not ask to hear from us, not to ration a household that is using Mokii normally. If something you are doing legitimately runs into a limit, email us and we will sort it out.
Alpha software
During alpha, Mokii may change, break, contain bugs, or be unavailable without notice. We’ll be honest about issues as we find them, but you should not rely on Mokii as your only plan for your pet’s wellbeing or your household’s safety.
Your account
You’re responsible for keeping your login secure and for the accuracy of the information you give us — including who’s in your circle and how to reach them.
Ending your use
You can stop using Mokii and close your account at any time from Settings; the privacy policy explains what that deletes. We may suspend or close an account that is used to contact people against their wishes, or otherwise breaks these terms, and we’ll tell you why unless the law stops us.
Liability
To the extent permitted by Australian law, Mokii is provided “as is” and “as available” during alpha, without warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any alert will be delivered or acted on in time. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that can’t lawfully be excluded.
Changes
We may update these terms as Mokii matures, particularly as alpha ends. We’ll flag material changes in the app or by email. Continuing to use Mokii after a change means you accept the updated terms.
