How Mokii works, and how to reach us.
The short version of what Mokii does, what happens when it raises an alert, and how to change who it calls. If something here doesn't match what you're seeing, tell us.
What Mokii does
Mokii watches a zone you draw around home. Once you arm it, every phone in your circle keeps an eye on whether its owner is inside or away — in the background, even with the app closed. While anyone who lives with your pets is home, Mokii stays quiet.
When the zone stands empty, Mokii waits the time you chose, then opens an alert and works down your alert ladder until someone answers. Coming home resets the clock.
What does it cost?
Free during the alpha. No card, no trial, nothing to cancel. Planned pricing after the alpha is A$4.99 a month or A$44.99 a year with a31-day free trial, GST included. We'll tell you at least 30 days before paid plans start, and nothing is ever charged automatically.
How alerts work
Your alert ladder is the order Mokii works through. Your inner circle — everyone living with the pets — is always the first tier. After that, each tier names who to alert, how long to wait before trying them, and whether to try more than once.
Whoever is alerted can answer straight from the notification, or by replying to the text:
- Acknowledge — they've seen it and it's in hand.
- On my way — they're heading over; Mokii holds off on the next tier for a while.
- Can't make it — Mokii moves to the next tier straight away rather than waiting.
Mokii reaches each person the way that works for them: a push notification if they have the app, or a text or phone call if they don't. Nobody on your ladder needs to install anything. Members of your household use the app so Mokii knows when they're home.
Changing your circle
- Invite someone: open the Circle tab, tap Invite, enter their email and choose a role. A co-owner can do everything you can — zones, ladders, people and arming. A circle member gets alerts and can answer them, with nothing to manage.
- If the email doesn't arrive: share the invite yourself from the same sheet. The code lasts seven days, and they can enter it under I have an invite code.
- Change or take back an invite: tap the pending invite in your circle to send it again or take it back. A code you take back stops working straight away.
- Change who an alert reaches: edit the tiers of your alert ladder. Changes apply to the next alert.
Only the owner and co-owners can invite people or change the ladder.
If the app says "Can't reach Mokii"
Your phone has lost touch with Mokii — usually a patchy connection. It keeps watching your zone regardless, and anything that happens is sent the moment it's back in touch. The app retries on its own; tap Retry now if you'd rather not wait. If it lasts more than a few minutes with a working connection, email us.

Mokii is in private alpha, so it is still changing and will sometimes be wrong. See how it works for what it does and doesn't promise.
